The Handsome Devilz (Smiths/Morrissey Tribute)
5:00 p.m.
Tired of not being able to go anywhere in the Chicago area to enjoy The beautiful sounds of The Smiths and Morrissey, vocalist, Joseph De La Mora and his band Terraforma decided to give it a shot in 2008. Originally just for an ICON show with other bands paying tribute to the likes of DM, the Cure and Joy Division. The Chance to emulate the Smiths and Moz was just too addictive and honorable to only do just once. Thus The Handsome Devilz were born. To bring to life the Live sound that was once the Smiths and still is Morrissey. Striving as time passes to Resurrect as many songs as possible from the Catalog of The Smiths and Moz. For all to Enjoy. |

Sunfallen (Pop/Rock)
2:30 p.m.
With the release of their debut EP, SunFallen has firmly planted their boots on the Chicago music scene.
The vintage feel of their rock and roll has been compared to that of the Rolling Stones, Black Crowes, and Led Zeppelin. You could feel the energy and excitement of the packed room as the band debuted their tracks live at their release party at Chicago's famed Double Door in February. Since then, audiences, big and small, have received the EP favorably across Chicagoland. SunFallen has been fortunate enough to take the stage at some of Chicagoland's premier venues, including Joe's Bar, 115 Bourbon St, The Cubby Bear, The Abbey Pub, Blue Chip Casino, Ballydoyle, McGee's, and plenty of other bars throughout the Midwest. Johnny B even played on of their songs on his popular morning show on 97.9, The Loop. The band has sold hundreds of copies since the release. 6:00 p.m.
Home is the feeling that bubbles up irrepressibly inside of you when you arrive exactly where you belong.
Coincidentally, the feeling that you get when you listen to The Right Now is awfully similar. The Right Now plays soul music, and soul music is all about feeling; not style, not fashion, but emotion. The band's 2010 debut Carry Me Home lives within the four walls erected by the arresting lead vocalist Stefanie Berecz, the stellar songcraft of Brendan O'Connell, the spot-on horns and layers of back-up vocals, and a solid bedrock of rhythm.

The National Museum of Mexican Art presents Ely Guerra (Rock)
6:00 p.m.
Monterrey, Mexico-born alt-rocker Ely Guerra is one of the most original and arresting musicians Mexico has produced and one of the most intriguing songwriters in Mexican rock.
Ms. Guerra sings about passion: gazing at it from a distance, then plunging into the turbulence. Her songs incorporate rock, electronica and the torchy emotion of Mexican pop in a shifting balance of poise and obsession. Her songs are magnificently unpredictable. She sings long nonverbal passages that seem to ponder things she cannot say. Amid volatile desires, Ms. Guerra’s songs seek not calm but equilibrium, a shifting harmony. She balanced contemplation and ardor, poise and clout, in songs that could be serene or fiery within moments

Mr. Blotto (Roots Rock)
8:30 p.m.
Mr. Blotto was born in Chicago as an off-night vehicle for musicians who loved each others playing but were in different bands at the time. The only rule was that they would only play what they absolutely loved to play. That philosophy continues to this day and has led Mr. Blotto into unique musical situations.
Mr. Blotto takes the Jam band asthetic into areas unfamiliar to the standard Jam Scene. They have been known to cover entire albums by Led Zepplin and The Who as well as perform entire shows of Country and Reggae. Artists as diverse as the Grateful Dead, the Flaming Lips, Willie Nelson and The Velvet Underground have seen their material interpreted by Mr. Blotto in the 2100+ shows the band has performed in the last 17 years.

Expo'76 is made up of four lifers who don’t need to be in another band, but still can't quite help themselves. Their weakness is your gain, and on any given night you'll hear them gleefully careening from '70s AM radio ear candy into walloping road house beer guzzling dance tunes; they'll chime their way through a New Wave nugget with the same exuberance that they slap around a swinging, jazzy blues number or a folk revival sing-along. Irrepressible, unstoppable, 100% unironic, and actually quite unbelievable at times, Expo'76 won’t take your requests, because they’re already playing them. But you can still shout them out. |
